Daily Meditation as Your Path to Mental Wellbeing

The benefits of meditation

Engaging your body in certain mindfulness exercises is an excellent way to dive deep into your being and keep in touch with yourself. Of course, as someone who strives for this, I have tried many things but found that meditation is one of the best practices to help you achieve that. However, I often hear many misconceptions about meditation – people keep obsessing over what exactly is the right way to meditate!
I know that you are probably one of them, so let me lay it right in front of you – there is no right or wrong way to meditate! I understand, I’ve been in your shoes and wondered whether I am doing things right, but eventually, I realized that this is an individual path. In essence, there are different approaches that you can choose – all serving the same purpose. All you need to do is stick to the one that would suit you the most.
If you feel like you have become incredibly stressed, lost the connection to your true self, or started living in a dull reality, meditating can serve as a means to take a break from those chains! I’ve been where you are, and I can confidently say that it is a way of promoting relaxation, while at the same time improving your emotional health and physical well-being.
And if you have tried before and think you can’t do it, I am here to tell you that you absolutely CAN! It just takes a little bit of practice.

Why should I meditate?

One common question that most people have when it comes to meditating is why should I meditate? You may search for clarity, a connection to your true self, or a way to vent the negative feelings you’ve gathered during the day. Regardless of what you seek, meditation will help you discover the road there! And did I mention that meditation is fun? Every time you explore your journey, you will discover many things you didn’t realize before. Somehow, it all made sense to me, and I found the path toward my true self! Along with fun, you will see that there are so many benefits that follow meditating, among which are the following:

Improved sleep quality – Meditation improves sleep quality and combats insomnia by reducing stress levels, making you feel sleepier. It also helps signal when it’s time to rest, facilitating better sleep preparation.

Peaceful mind – Through my journey, I’ve found peace and clarity. Acceptance and letting go have quieted the chaos in my mind, fostering optimism. If you’re facing similar struggles, embracing acceptance can lead to bliss and serenity, along with improved thought control.

Pain management – Daily life brings pain, be it physical or emotional, always perceived negatively. Yet, through practice, we can balance and manage it, leading to greater well-being.

Improving anxiety and focus – To boost mindfulness, focus is crucial. It sharpens awareness, especially for those with short attention spans. It brings peace, easing anxiety by managing daily overload and fostering serenity.

Is it difficult?

If you are a beginner, try to perceive meditation as an ancient practice that has been utilized for centuries. It has existed for so long, and many people practice it, so there is something to why they do it! Various meditation techniques date back centuries ago, and no matter which one you try, your body will calm down, and your mind will experience a fully elevated state. When you do it daily, over time, you will master it! It is truly not that difficult; it only takes the willingness to explore this journey. But keep in mind; balance and clarity won’t come to you immediately – all good things take time!

How do I sit still for so long without thinking about anything?

It sounds so challenging, right? Did you turn the dishwasher on? Did you forget to do your laundry? What’s that thing that Sarah said to me earlier? What did she mean??? I understand but eventually, you will come to terms with the fact that this practice is not a result-focused exercise. To experience the process fully, you’ll need to trust the journey in the first place. Gradually you will learn to accept your thoughts and just release them. The major mistake many people make is trying hard to clear their mind while all you need to do is accept and release.
So, instead of focusing on the result and adding additional anxiety, you should simply try to relax and enjoy the journey completely. In some cases, you may need days to achieve this, but in other cases, you may need months to get to the needed relaxation point – and that’s perfectly ok! You will learn many things along the way.
The bottom line is you can go however long you like without thinking about anything. All you need to do is be in the right mindset. Once you clear your mind from everything possible, you will continue cleansing your spirit too!
